Disaster Risk Reduction and Response (DRRR); where HFHM works with disaster affected communities to respond, prepare and adapt to disasters and empowering local communities on how they can Build Back Better and safer. The interventions were funded by UNDP, JTI Foundation, KOSTAL, HFHI, Shelter Box, and KOICA.

a.Building Resilience of Disaster Affected Families and Organizational Capacity Building project. This is a three-year project funded by JTI Foundation and is aimed at increasing the resilience of 14,000 households living in flood-prone areas in Chikwawa district by supporting and enabling them to have permanent, durable and flood resistant shelters.

b.Increase the Disaster Resilience of Households and Communities in Chikwawa District. This is a one-year project is funded by Kostal from Germany. It is aimed at increasing the resilience of three (3) households living in flood-prone areas by supporting and enabling them to have permanent, durable and flood resistant shelters.

c.Building Resilience of Disaster Affected Families of T/A Makhuwira in Chikwawa District. This is an eight-months project (aimed at increasing the resilience of 20 households living in flood-prone areas of T/A Makhuwira by supporting and enabling them to have permanent, durable and flood resistant shelter within 8 months.

d.Humanitarian Assistance to Recover the Damage from the Cyclone Idai. The project was aimed at providing immediate support to the most vulnerable affected populations by distributing ESKs (Emergency Shelter Kits) together with the necessary training and technical assistance within 3 months (May to August, 2019) with funding from KOICA. During the same period, HFHM also got funding from Shelter Box, HFH International, HFH Germany to respond disasters.
