Vulnerable Group Housing (VGH)

Vulnerable Group Housing (VGH); where fully subsidized houses and sanitation facilities are provided to orphans and other vulnerable groups including persons with disabilities in rural communities. The program interventions were funded with Global Volunteers, HFHM Affiliates, Gales Family Foundation, and Hope and Healing International formally known as Christian Blind Mission. The following are the projects under the VGH program;

A.Empowering Families of People with Disabilities project. This is a three-year project (2017 – 2019) funded by Christian Build Mission (CBM) and is aimed at improving the physical living conditions of families of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Salima District through construction of houses and training them in livelihood training.

B.Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) –Abwenzi Athu (Our Friends) Project. This was a one year project funded by the Gales Family which is aimed at assisting 19 OVC families to have decent shelter by December 2019 in Mulanje district. The project was extended to 2020 under new conditions.

C.Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Project. The project is aimed at improving the living conditions and reduce the vulnerability of OVC families through the construction of decent, durable houses and provision of other related services such as latrines. This project is funded by different donors and is implemented in different districts across Malawi.

i. Mulanje district, funded by Global Village;
ii. Dowa District- funded by Habitat for Humanity Wake County and Global Village;
iii. Lilongwe District-funded by Tithe Funds and Global Village;
iv. Salima District- funded by Global Village.
